and now you tell me that you’re having my baby!

Fucking Wham! is one of the best things to come out of the 80s. Let’s just start with how they use an exclamation point at the end of their name. Brilliant. And a freaking onomatopoeia. They do sound like a Wham! to the head. Jesus! Don’t even try to pretend like you weren’t in love with George Michael or Andrew Ridgely at some point in your life. That ass!

Don’t even get me started on the music! "Make It Big" will soon be considered classical music because it it a muthafuckin classic! So many hit songs! "Everything She Wants" is stuck in my head, hopefully, forever! Inge, that is my new favorite jam, so please play it as often as "Standing In the Way of Control." Thanks!

rainer maria’s "tinfoil" is my favorite live song. i will never ever tire of being in a room where the band is playing this song. in fact, i will stop going to see rainer maria when they stop playing this song as their encore. i will bury their albums and cry.

I listened to the Grateful Dead today…and I liked it!

August 25th, 2005 by dancedancerevolution

I was listening to some internet station that plays 80s music this morning (what’s new, you ask), and The Dead’s "Touch of Grey" came on and I didn’t change the station. Furthermore, I liked it! I haven’t listened to The Dead since 8th grade. (OK, except for that one song that I listened to because Carrie Brownstein said it was good Sunday morning music and y’all know that is my favorite genre next to all-out-80s-dance party and winter-mixtape.) That song is kinda jingle jangly, but it’s so posi, I gotta love it.

"I will get by / I will get by-y-y / I will survive"

Gotta love that ol’ bear, Jerry Garcia…especially this carpet of him! Someone buy me this!:

Club977 The 80s Channel is the best station EVER

June 23rd, 2005 by dancedancerevolution

Since I started my first career as a full-time office bitch two years ago, I have developed a bit of a Friday ritual (which has, inevitably seeped its way into other days of the week). I come in and set my iTunes radio to play Club977 The 80s Channel. Oh man. It is the best shit ever! Laura Branigan’s “Self Control” is on now! I don’t know any other station with the balls to play that song EVERY SINGLE DAY. I love it! I’m not sure if my coworkers love me singing along and spinning around in my desk chair, but it keeps me (somewhat) sane during the 9-5…who am I kidding? 9-7! It’s also a chance to practice my karaoke skillz. Watch out “Bette Davis Eyes” because here I come to tackle the hell out of you and forget anything about the words “pitch” and “on key.” See you at Mulberry Bar soon, kids.

“We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off” - Jermaine Stewart

Not a word, from your lips
You just took for granted that I want to skinny dip.
A quick hit, that’s your game.
But I’m not a piece of meat, still you like my brain.
Night is young, so are we.
Let’s get to know each other better, slow & easily.
Take my hand, let’s hit the floor.
Shake our bodies to the music.
Maybe then you’ll score.

Chorus: So come on baby, won’t you show some class
Why you want to move so fast.
We don’t have to take our clothes off
To have a good time
Oh no
We could dance & party all night
And drink some cherry wine
Uh huh
We don’t have to take our clothes off
To have a good time
Oh no
We could dance & party all night (all night)
And drink some cherry wine
Uh huh
Na na na na na na na…………

Just slow down if you want me
A man wants to be approached cool & romantically
I’ve got needs
Just like you
If the conversation’s good
Vibrations through & through

So come on baby, won’t you show some class
Why you want to move so fast
We don’t have to take outr clothes off
To have a good time
Oh no
We could dance & party all night (all night)
And drink some cherry wine
Uh huh
Na na na na na na………

Repeat until fade………….

Gay disco homogenius. He has another song that is all about Jody Watley! RIP.

How much is that homo in the window?

June 20th, 2005 by dancedancerevolution

I heart the totally homosexual mannequins in the window of Bloomindale’s SoHo. Two hard-bodied mannequin men with their eyes fixed on each other. Beautiful. I also am having a love affair with the word homosexual these days…

Xanadu.

Fucking amazing movie. Roller skates. ONJ (yes, we are on such terms for me to call her ONJ) in almost nothing flashing her Australian smile. Dance scenes. Roller skating scenes. Dance roller skating scenes. Randomness upon randomness. Oh. And more ONJ.

Be prepared for more pop culture awesomeness. And check out the photo album for a treat.
